Komodo dragons are tamable venomous mobs.

Spawning[]

Natural generation[]

Komodo dragons spawn naturally in Swampland biomes.

Komodo dragons often spawn with random sizes, but, when fully grown, a Komodo dragon can grow to at least 3 blocks long.

Drops[]

Komodo dragons will drop 0 to 1 reptile hide upon death. The amount of reptile hide dropped is not affected by the Looting enchantment. Komodo dragons (large dragons, not small ones) also have a 25% chance to drop an egg. They drop 1-3 experience when killed by a player or tamed wolf.

Tamed Komodo dragons will drop a saddle upon death if worn, regardless if a normal saddle or crafted saddle was placed on it.

Behavior[]

A tamed Komodo dewjehragon with a saddle equipped.

Komodo dragons will wander around aimlessly, hissing occasionally and sticking out their tongues like snakes. Occasionally, a Komodo dragon will sit on the ground with their legs spread out, much like crocodiles. Komodo dragons are semi-aquatic, and can swim in water as well as walk on land.

Komodo dragons will chase the player within a 12-16 block radius. Komodo dragons are also venomous; and will poison their prey and the player when attacking.

Taming[]

A Komodo dragon can be tamed by hatching a Komodo dragon egg within several blocks where the egg was placed. If you move too far from the egg, the newly hatched Komodo dragon will be wild.

Tamed Komodo dragons can be healed with raw turkey or raw rat.

After a Komodo dragon reaches its full size, it can be equipped with a saddle and ridden. Unlike most other rideable mobs, they cannot wear chests.

Usage[]

Riding[]

Once a Komodo dragon is tamed and saddled, the player can control it with standard directional controls, jump, and the mouse. The player dismount is using the shift key.

When riding a Komodo dragon, the hunger bar is replaced by the Komodo dragon's health in survival or adventure mode. It uses a slightly different heart texture than the player's health bar.

Komodo dragons are one of the slowest rideable mobs (they can however, be combined with speed potions). They are also very slow when moving sideways.

A ridden Komodo dragon can be made to jump. Komodo dragons are not affected by jump boost beacons or potions. The standard dismount control (shift) dismounts from the Komodo dragon, as does going in water deeper than two blocks (even though Komodo dragons can swim). Like the player, Komodo dragons take fall damage when falling from heights.
