Manta rays are tamable aquatic mobs that spawn in water.

Manta rays spawn in ocean, deep ocean and frozen ocean biomes.

Manta rays drop 1-3 experience when killed by a player or tamed wolf. Otherwise, they drop nothing.

Manta rays wander around aimlessly in water, and are not attracted to light, nor do they interact with the player unless they are mounted. They are passive, and will not poison the player if touched or provoked.

Like other aquatic mobs, manta rays will take damage from suffocation, and die if beached onto land for too long.

A manta ray needs to be mounted several times before they can be ridden and become tame. It requires patience, as the manta ray will buck you off many times before it accepts you. When the naming screen appears, the manta ray has been tamed. Alternatively, you can use a fish net on them and then release the ray from the fish net and it will be tamed. Unlike horses, no saddle is required and there are no food items that can reduce the temper of wild manta rays.

Once tamed, a manta ray can then be named. They may also be tamed by right clicking on one with a fish net. A fish net can be used to move tamed manta rays.
