Template:InfoboxMod Mo' Creatures is a Minecraft mod that was made by DrZhark. It adds over 58 new mobs to the game.

Overview

Mo Creatures provides many new animals and monster mobs, as well as the ability to tame and ride some.

The mod focuses on allowing the player to interact with and tame new creatures. Each mob in Mo' Creatures is either passive, neutral or hostile, and some have advanced AI, which of course depends on the player's presence.

Some activities in the mod include fighting hostile mobs and crafting new blocks and tools by gathering various resources found in the mod.

Dependencies

  • Minecraft Forge
  • GUI Api (for Minecraft Versions 1.6.x and earlier)
  • CustomMobSpawner (if omitted, the default spawner will be used)

Blocks

Main Category: Blocks

Mo' Creatures adds some new blocks to Minecraft, most of which are exclusive to the wyvern lair dimension, as well as ogre lair blocks for the ogre lair, which is still in development.

There are different types of blocks; natural blocks such as wyvern lair grass and stone are generated in the dimension. There are also blocks that players can craft, such as wyvern lair and ogre Lair wood planks. Resources can be extracted from blocks by hand or by using tools.

Some of these resources are simply blocks in the player's inventory that can be placed elsewhere, while others are used as material to create other blocks or tools.

Mobs

Main Category: Mobs

Mo' Creatures adds a variety of mobs to Minecraft. They are affected by the environment in the same ways as the player, and they can be hurt by the same things that harm the player (catching on fire, falling, drowning, attacked by weapons, etc.). Some mobs may be resistant or immune to certain hazards, such as nightmares or nether scorpions, which are immune to fire. Big golems are also somewhat resistant to swords or other weapons, but they do extra take damage from a pickaxe.

There are also nine small mobs that were added for ambient purposes.

Mob behavior

Minecraft mobs can also ride other mobs, this includes zombies or skeletons riding on horsemobs, wolves, or scorpions. When mobs are killed, they drop various items which may be useful to the player for use in many crafting recipes. Some mobs can only be found in certain biomes, such as mammoths, frost scorpions and polar bears, which can can only be found in "snow" biomes.

Each type of mob has an AI (artificial intelligence) system with different behavior and mechanics. Mobs will ordinarily wander around at random if there is a player nearby and usually will avoid walking off blocks high enough to cause fall damage.

Other mobs have more advanced AI, and as a result, have more complex behavior, such as scorpions stinging the player if they get too close, mobs destroying blocks, or using them as a weapon. Examples of this includes ogres destroying blocks in a nearby radius, and both golems using the ability to throw blocks at the player. Big golems can form their body from blocks in the surrounding environment, making them a formidable threat and challenging enemy. Mini golems will simply throw a block at you to damage them.

Taming mobs

Most mobs can be tamed in various ways, such as catching aquatic mobs (like fish or crabs) with a fish net or by hatching mob eggs such as wyvern, Ostrich, many types of fish, komodo dragon or shark eggs. Some mobs, such as horses, can be ridden, bred and can even transform into rarer variants, (such as fairy horses or pegasi) with the use of essences.

Mobs come to exist by spawning in various ways. Players can spawn most mobs into the world by using spawn eggs in creative mode. Most mobs, especially hostile mobs, are aware of the player within 16 blocks.

Dimensions

Main category: Dimensions

The Mo' Creatures mod adds one dimension: the wyvern lair, and another one that is still planned: the ogre lair.

The wyvern lair

Main article: Wyvern Lair

The wyvern lair is a dimension in Mo' Creatures, accessible with the use of a wyvern portal staff. It is the only place where wyverns spawn and can be found naturally. It is also home to other mobs such as snakes, bunnies and insects.

Upon arrival in the dimension, you will spawn on a quartz portal. This structure, as the name suggests, is made entirely out of different types of quartz blocks.

The ogre lair

Main article: Ogre Lair

The ogre Lair is a planned dimension that is still in development. It is currently not accessible, and in a future update, three ogre bosses are set to spawn in the dimension, along with ogres.
